Thanks to everyone who made it to the CD release - it was a joyous night, and we were so happy.
A real treat to see our first official review of Bright Light from KBCS DJ and blogger, Iaan Hughes.
Tom and I had a little duo afternoon show yesterday at Le Pichet, and it was a lovely afternoon of butter lettuce, watermelon/falafel salad, crisp white wine, olives, and more coffee. It was a date gig. Those are rare, but when they happen, they're sweet moments.
A few shows left this month as we plan to head out on tour September 8th...should be a fun one! Canyons, mountain rivers, New Mexico, hot springs, LA rooftops, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival (as spectators/buskers!), the Redwoods, the wild Pacific coast. A buncha gigs that enable us to make these forays into majestic natural worlds. We have a send-off show at Conor Byrne September 3rd, with the Blackberry Bushes for their CD release. Enjoy the rest of summer!
Happy 60th Birthday today to my dad.

Bright Light pre-order packages now available - March 14, 2010
June 2010 - Thanks to everyone who donated!! We really are so thankful.
The new album, Bright Light is in the final stages of tracking, and slated for a July 2010 release. We're very excited about it, and we can't wait to share it. We are offering album pre-sales packages, as listed on the home page. This is a great way to get your CD early, along with a few other perks, and help us knock out some of the upfront CD expenses. It's always quite an undertaking with each aspect: studio time, hired musicians, engineers, mixing, mastering, manufacturing, artwork, and on and on. We do it all ourselves. We've come up with a few levels of giving, matched with the new CD/poster and other swag. We appreciate any support you can contribute. Thank you!
Mid-winter report - January 10, 2010
Back from the winter tour. It was full of great fun and adventure. We did film a video in Jerome, AZ. We drove and we sang and we chased the sun. We avoided inclement weather, saw friends in every place we went. We loved Austin. We love Datri Bean. We returned to favorite venues. We had too much fun. Thanks to everyone. We're finishing up the album in the next couple months, more news to come as it's fit for the page.
NWxSW Winter Snowbird Tour and Album update! - November 11, 2009
Hey folks - it's been a little quiet from our corner of the world lately. But things have been busy behind the scenes, as they say. We're getting closer to finished with our next album due out in 2010. The songs are sounding great, it's always awesome to be in the studio. We'll pick it up again in February, and hope to announce it's release date soon after that.
We've also been resting up, rehearsing, and getting fit to the task of an upcoming winter tour and a little junket to Costa Rica for the winter months. Yee haw. Joining Tom, Aimee and I will be Moe Provencher on bass/mandolin and a box of Gravity EPs. We'll be kicking off the tour in fair Portland on Friday, November 27 at The Woods.
Take a look at the tour itinerary and I hope we'll see some of you at the shows. You can also follow our blog.
But first! Seattle folks, we have one more show in our fair city before we hit the road. Saturday, Nov 21st we'll be playing at The Big House in Ballard. It's a former church that now features a performance space. It'll be a neat show, not your usual club show, it's an all-ages show as well. Show show show. Hope to see you before we embark on the next trip.
If you haven't checked our our recent EP, Gravity, don't worry! They're still available.
Thanks for checking in and be swell.

Hello Willie... - April 29, 2009
Hey folks! We've got a fun tribute night coming up this Thursday, April 30 at ye olde Conor Byrne in Ballard. We'll be playing some great Willie tunes, as willie several other musicians that evening. Willie's repertoire is long and impressive, and so are his decades-old braids.
Spring news - March 17, 2009
Things are moving along as we are in pre-production for our next recording. Lots of new tunes are getting some lovin' treatment, and we're excited to hit the studio in late spring. Meanwhile, we'll be playing around town and in the region, enjoying the summer, playing at the farmer's markets, and at summer parties. If you are interested in having The Starlings at your summer house party or event, just drop us a line.
Stay tuned for more info on the upcoming album. Ciao for now...

"Seattleās Starlings second album is that ava raris, a work has the musical development so beloved of critics and reviewers while retaining the sound and style of their debut to keep fans who know what they like happy." -Americana UK
Great write-up in the Idaho Statesmen - April 25, 2008
Thanks to Michael Deeds for the article in The Idaho Statesman! Great way to kick off the tour. "It's rootsy music with a simple beauty. It's a Seattle band with a small-town aura...Mills' timeless, gorgeous voice is the driving force behind the Starlings' twangy serenity. Her husband, singer-guitarist Tom Parker, is no slouch, either. When the two harmonize as a banjo gets plucked in the background, it's a truly wonderful blend."
Folk Alley Featured Artist For April - April 22, 2008
We're the featured artist on Folk Alley's Open Mic for April. Folk Alley is a listener-supported, online radio streaming 24/7. Check it out here.

CD Release! - January 31, 2008
Hey folks - boy, it feels good to be able to announce the CD Release party for "Marveling the While." We're having it at The Tractor Tavern on Saturday, April 5 at 6:30pm. Yup, it's an early show, early so as to welcome all our friends and fans who find it a bit disconcerting to have to watch a headliner at 11pm. This will also be a seated show, with opener Zoe Muth, so I hope you can save the date and be there to help us celebrate this new album. Rumor has it our producer and good buddy Chad Hinman will be up from Portland to perform with us. There will be an announcement soon that "MTW" is available online for purchase. We also have scheduled special release shows on Bainbridge Island (March 29) and Portland's Mississippi Studios (April 12), so let your friends know if they live in the area. Thanks a heap for your support, and see you out there soon!
P.S. Big plans perch on the horizon for a 6-month national tour, beginning in May. If you've peeked at our calendar, you can see what I'm talking about.
